With our cold Midwest winters, we take a break from our camping travels. I decided to make a holiday ornament that looks like our Class B van to remind me of our fun adventures. This quick craft was super simple and took less than a half hour to make. Here is how to make one for yourself.
Class B Van Holiday Ornament
Materials
- Toy car (1:64 scale)
- Paint
- Miniature tree
- Jute twine
Directions
1. To make the toy van look more like our Roadtrek Zion, I painted windows with black acrylic paint. Mask off the area with painter’s tape and apply two or three coats of paint.
2. Add a coat of varnish or sealer over the paint for a little shine and protection.
3. Compare the tree to the van and mark where it needs to be cut to fit the scale of the van.
4. Cut off the base of the tree and trim off extra branches with scissors.
5. Paint the stub at the end of the tree brown to look like the tree trunk.
6. We want the tree to look like it is tied to the top of the van with rope. Tie a loop of twine and knot it a couple of times around the middle of the tree.
7. You are almost done! Hot glue the tree to the top of the van.
You now have a cute ornament to hang on your holiday tree. Looking at the van is a reminder that it is time to start planning our next camping adventures. We are so lucky to have so many state and national parks in this beautiful country!
